Policies & Agreements

At Miss Meg’s Swim Lessons, we strive to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive swim environment. Please review the following policies to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all swimmers and families.

Enrollment & Lesson Credits

  • Swimmers register for a full session of group or private lessons.
  • Group lesson registration reserves your swimmer’s spot for the same day and time each week during the session.
  • We do not offer rolling credits for missed classes except as outlined in the Make-Up Lesson Policy.
  • If Miss Meg’s cancels a scheduled class and no alternative is offered, we will provide a lesson credit or make-up option.

Make-Up Lesson Policy

  • Each swimmer is allowed one make-up class per session.
  • Make-ups must be requested by the parent/guardian using our Make-Up Request Form.
  • Once approved, we will issue a Single-Lesson Make-Up Card that allows you to check in to any class of the same level during the session or within two months of the missed date.
  • Make-up classes are scheduled by the parent/guardian — instructors are not responsible for scheduling make-ups.
  • If you know about an absence early in the session, submit your request right away so we can issue your make-up card in advance. This allows you to attend an extra class before the absence if you prefer.

How to Check In with a Make-Up Card

1️⃣ Log into your Captyn account — you’ll see the calendar on your home page.

2️⃣ Select a lesson date and choose a class of the same level as your regular lesson.

3️⃣ Tap “Check In,” select your swimmer (if you have multiple), and confirm.

Your make-up card remains active until used or until its expiration date.

Missed Lesson & Refund Policy

  • We do not offer refunds for any reason, including illness, missed classes, inclement weather, or facility closures.
  • The only exception is in the event of a permanent facility relocation to a location more than 10 miles from the original site listed at the time of registration (measured location to location, not from your home). Refunds for unused lessons in that case will begin 30 days after the end of the session.

Sick Swimmer Policy

To protect the health of all participants:

  • Keep your swimmer home if they are sick.
  • Staff may refuse a lesson if a swimmer shows signs of illness.
  • If anyone in your household has a contagious illness (stomach virus, flu, pink eye, COVID-19, etc.), please stay home to prevent community spread.

Inclement Weather & Facility Closures

Lessons may be canceled due to:

  • Severe weather (e.g., snowstorms, lightning)
  • Facility issues (e.g., unsafe pool conditions, temperature drops, or hotel maintenance)

If a class is canceled, families will be notified via Captyn email and text. Canceled lessons will be credited for future use or rescheduled when possible.

Minimum Attendance Policy for Group Lessons

Group lessons require a minimum of three swimmers registered prior to the start date in order to run.

If a class does not meet the minimum enrollment:

  • Swimmers registered for that time slot will receive a credit to their Captyn account in the dollar amount they paid, which can be applied toward another available class time.
  • Families may also choose to keep their reserved time slot and upgrade it to a private lesson by paying the difference in cost.

This policy ensures that classes remain engaging, cost-effective, and sustainable for our program.

Medical & Behavioral Disclosures

Please share any medical or behavioral conditions during enrollment that could impact your swimmer’s participation.

We strive to accommodate all swimmers but may decline instruction if we cannot do so safely.

Facility Etiquette & Hygiene

Lessons are held at the Quality Inn & Suites indoor pool in Danbury, CT. This is a shared hotel facility — please help us be respectful guests:

  • Enter through the main front entrance, check in at the hotel desk, and proceed to the pool hallway.
  • Rinse off before entering the pool.
  • Avoid using post-lesson showers; these are reserved for swimmers entering the next class.
  • Swimmers with open wounds or excessive nasal/eye discharge will not be permitted to swim.

Swim Attire

All swimmers must wear secure, pool-safe swimwear: bathing suits, wetsuits, rash guards, or modesty swimwear.

  • Long hair must be tied back or secured with a swim cap.
  • All swimwear styles are welcome as long as safety and visibility are maintained.

Inclusivity & Discrimination Policy

Miss Meg’s Swim Lessons is a welcoming and inclusive swim school.

We do not discriminate based on race, gender identity, religion, ethnicity, disability, or any other factor.

We foster an environment of kindness, acceptance, and support — in and out of the water.

Thank you for being part of Miss Meg’s Swim Lessons!

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us provide a safe, fun, and effective swim program for all. 💦🏊‍♀️✨
